Forestry

forestry bcOur company has extensive experience in aerial application for forest companies throughout Western Canada.

Our pilots are aerial application specialists.  Each pilot has 15 years and over 3,500 hours of aerial application experience.

We use state of the art Trimble GPS guidance systems for all aerial application operations to ensure an even and accurate dispersal of all products.

Herbicide

For our aerial herbicide operations, our aircraft are equipped with specially designed belly mounted spray systems, forward mounted booms,  and Crophawk In Flow / Out Flow Meters.

Our spray booms have an assortment of Accuflow Spray Nozzles, which enable us to deliver the optimum droplet size while ensuring the highest standard of drift control available.

Fertilizer

Each pilot has extensive experience in the application of fertilizers for Western Canadian forest companies.

Various blends and varied application rates are used to treat both young stands that are found to be nutrient deficient, and older stands where our client is looking to dramatically boost yields by fertilizing approximately 10 years prior to harvest.

Fertilization of forests is a widely accepted practice in the U.S.A., and is used by progressive thinking Canadian lumber companies looking to improve yields in the future.

Seeding

Black Hawk has extensive experience with the aerial application of both grass seed and tree seed for a variety of purposes.

Grass Seeding

Road deactivation, forest fire renewal, slide stabilization, and site reclamation are all areas where grass seed has proven very effective.

Grass seed requires very precise calibration of equipment to ensure an even and accurate dispersal.  Our company has developed a seeder that can be calibrated to provide remarkable results, and our pilots have the years of experience required to be the very best at providing the desired application.

Tree Seeding

In the 1960’s and 1970’s, it was common for lumber companies to reforest their harvested areas by distributing conifer seeds from aircraft.

Since the early 1980’s the common reforestation practice has been to plant commercially grown seedlings by hand.  This method allows for precision placement of trees, but is very labor intensive and costly.

For the past three years we have had great success aerial tree seeding for clients looking to greatly improve their return on the investments they make in reforestation.  The key to the success has been our internal development of a seeding bucket capable of precision delivery of the exact amount of seed desired per hectare.
